INSPIRE THE WORLD
Cancer care on Vancouver Island will be transformed.
BC Cancer Foundation launched the Inspire the World campaign, a $10 million capital campaign that will see the construction and renovation of 10,000 square feet at the BC Cancer Agency’s Vancouver Island Centre to create a state-of-the-art patient & family support centre, a predictive cancer research centre and a radiation innovation wing.
Surveys and feedback confirm that patients are overwhelmingly satisfied with the medical care received at the BC Cancer Agency’s Vancouver Island Centre. At the same time, patients and their families feel that psychological and emotional support before, during and after treatment still needs vast improvement. Our dream is to provide this, and conduct cutting-edge research focused on the psychosocial aspects of cancer.
This campaign will actualize Vancouver Island as the first location in BC with a truly comprehensive cancer centre. BC Cancer Agency’s Vancouver Island Centre will be leading BC in how to integrate clinical care, supportive care and basic cancer research, and will be the only centre in BC where these three key elements are integrated and housed under one roof.
