Together we can bring hope

When cancer affects your life or the life of a loved one or friend, many people want to reach out and make a difference to those who are now being diagnosed and treated for cancer.

Below are just six reasons why giving to the BC Cancer Foundation truly makes an impact - in your community, across B.C., and also, on a wider basis worldwide.

  1. Support the best patient outcomes in Canada
British Columbians enjoy the best patient outcomes in Canada and the highest standards of treatment through the BC Cancer Agency.
  2. Make possible the most important advances in cancer prevention and care
Some of the most important breakthroughs in cancer today have come from BC Cancer Agency research, funded by the BC Cancer Foundation.
  3. Build on BC's unique population-based approach to cancer care:
The unique population-based approach to cancer at the BC Cancer Agency has a direct impact on every British Columbian; from prevention and province-wide screening to early detection and treatment. Cervical screening and screening mammograms are just two of the many examples of this approach.
  4. All funds raised are put to work right here in BC.
All money raised by the BC Cancer Foundation stays in B.C. and benefits British Columbians through The BC Cancer Agency network of province-wide cancer control.
  5. Make possible research that would not otherwise be funded.
For much of the innovative research at the BC Cancer Agency, the necessary funding is often not available from traditional sources, so donations are the only way to make these gains in the battle against cancer. Your donations also allow research to be fast-tracked, for gains that can help people sooner.
  6. For every $1 you contribute, an additional $4 more is raised
Your donations pay for vital core funding that allows scientists and researchers to then apply for further funding from granting bodies. Every $1 you contribute enables an additional $4 in grant monies, a 400% return on investment.

Instead of presents, Gerri London, a breast cancer survivor, asked for donations for her 60th birthday. She says, "I was determined to turn my birthday into a fundraiser for the BC Cancer Foundation." More >
Perhaps like Gerri London you have a special occasion to celebrate and would like to do so with donations to the BC Cancer Foundation. A gift to the BC Cancer Foundation “In Celebration” program is not only a unique way to celebrate a milestone, but also to celebrate the memory of a family member, friend or colleague, or to celebrate a caregiver or someone special.

The BC Cancer Foundation will send a letter about your gift to the person being honoured or to the next of kin for a gift in memory. The amount of your gift is kept strictly confidential.
