Opening of new BC Cancer Research Centre

February 25 , 2005, Vancouver, B.C - On March 1st, one of the largest cancer research centres in Canada will officially open. The BC Cancer Agency’s new BC Cancer Research Centre offers new hope to cancer patients and their families across the province and beyond. This state-of-the-art centre will help attract more of the globe’s top researchers and clinicians to further the world-class translational research now taking place at the Agency. The new building will increase scientific and medical personnel capacity to 600 from the current 318 positions.
The $95 million research centre is made possible through generous donations to the BC Cancer Foundation, and from investments made by the Canada Foundation for Innovation and the British Columbia Knowledge Development Fund. The BC Cancer Research Centre continues to be funded through donations to the BC Cancer Foundation.
A media release will be issued at 10:30am on Tuesday, March 1, 2005.
