BC Cancer Agency gives women a “Call to Action” to get a free screening mammogram

Having regular screening mammograms has shown to reduce deaths from breast cancer in BC women by 25 per cent and is one of the best ways to monitor their breast health. Early detection of breast cancer means more treatment options and a better chance for recovery.

Only 50 per cent of eligible women in BC take advantage of the free screenings that can save lives. The BC Cancer Agency wants to change that by increasing awareness of the service and its importance in helping detect breast cancer early, when it is more treatable.

The service is free, proven to be life-saving and available to all BC women ages 40 to 79. No doctor’s referral is needed and a visit takes about 15 minutes.
