About BC Cancer Foundation, Abbotsford

The new Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre is a state-of-the-art 300-bed acute care hospital in Abbotsford and an enhancement to the BC Cancer Agency’s network of cancer services for the Lower Mainland. The hospital and integrated cancer treatment centre will offer enhanced programs and services to more than 330,000 people in the Central and Eastern Fraser Valley region.

The Cancer Centre represents the BC Cancer Agency’s fifth cancer centre and will provide residents of the Central and Eastern Fraser Valley with a full range of cancer control services – from prevention and early detection, to diagnosis and treatment, to supportive care and education. Additionally, the Centre will be part of the BC Cancer Agency’s research network, dedicated to knowledge generation and application.

Cancer programs and services offered at the BC Cancer Agency, Abbotsford Centre will include:

12 chemotherapy chairs in the Chemotherapy and Systemic Care Suite;
4 linear accelerators (with room for expansion) in the Radiation Therapy Suite and enhanced brachytherapy services;
Access to national and international clinical trials;
New patient multi-disciplinary consultation and care planning;
Supportive care and pain/symptom management;
Breast Health Program in collaboration with the Fraser Health Authority;
Nutritional consultation and rehabilitation support;
Patient and community education in Cancer Prevention;
Hereditary Cancer Program; and
Professional education/liaison for community based cancer control programs.

The Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre will also become a centre for learning, with resources including a joint Hospital and Cancer Centre Library and Learning Centre, and facilities to allow the development of partnerships with nursing and medical schools.
